I went the value route with this…paying $40 at Gander Mountain. I should have done my homework before making this purchase, because I’m looking for a hammock that will be comfortable and durable for 5-7 years. This hammock serves its purpose, but me, my wife, and kids all find it to be uncomfortable and akward to get in and lay in. It has to be hung very high to compensate for the extreme sagging, even with a 55 pound kid. I’m taking it back today, saving up some money, and will purchase something like a Palweys Island that gets solid reviews.

Put the hammock up this afternoon, got in and hit the ground due to sagging… had to suspend the hammock much higher than I usually would.. (my chest height) to keep from hitting the ground.

20 minutes of light use (reading a book) – first rope snaps, I get out, fix with some nylon rope, sursing myself for buying the darn thing.

40 minutes later – 4 more ropes snap

Shotty workmanship, sagging ropes, and will NOT, I repeat, WILL NOT hold the 500lbs it says it will (I am no small man, but I weigh in at 300, that’s 200lbs under the stated weight limit), These are the reasons I give this hammock 1 star, if I could give it 0 I would…

The hammock is not as big as pictured, it’s actually much smaller, I would say two very short people could fit like the people shown. It’s made very durable but only not very large so only one person can use it and they have to use it sideways.

Bought it from and returned it to Gander MTN. Put it up and hit the ground. Very, very saggy, wide open spaces. I wish I had taken a bit more care of the one I had–over 30 years old and passed to my husband and I from his parents. Unfortunately, left it up too late into the winter and an animal got ahold of it.
