Advanced Expectations: New Developments in Email Marketing

The modern-day drive in marketing, particularly e-mail marketing, is concerned with the implications of the hyper-consumption experiences being identified within an emergent consumer branded the ‘expectation economy’. The expectation economy refers to a new-style economy that is characterized by well-informed consumers who have high expectations with regard to services and products, and who place a high premium on a superior buying experience. Over the years, the modern consumer has acquired specialist know-how through continuous self-training and in the process of hyperconsumption and exposure to new dynamic lifestyle models, has come to expect not only superior standards of quality but expects ‘best of the best’. The readily available always-on information networks have also promoted this new-style consumer culture that expects “only the best” and is not satisfied with just basic standards in services and products.

These high expectation trends in marketing also apply to the advancement and evolution of email marketing. Instead of simply sending batches of emails to random customers and prospects, the trend in recent years has been to rather develop strategic and sophisticated “smart” emailing campaigns. For example, the successful email marketer focuses on promotional methods to facilitate increasing customer response as well as stimulate conversion and retention rates. This is achieved through a combination of personalization, segmentation and “triggers.” In other words,” Increasingly segmented and triggered emails will be driven by behavioral data, such as which specific links a recipient clicked, whether someone did or did not open an email, what pages they visited on the company’s Web site or whether they did or did not make a purchase or take a specific action”. (http://www.emaillabs.com/email_marketing_articles/article_2005_email_marketing_trends.html) This process is often automated by companies using software to integrate email data with other customer data via an API (Application Protocol Interface)

Email marketing has also advanced beyond conventional technologies, with marketers switching between plain text and HTML formats. Some pundits state that, “E-mail's role is changing, the technology is advancing, and its horizons are broadening”. (http://www.clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3627210) Similarly, audio and video email has become a distinct possibly. These new modes of email marketing are aimed at enlarging and expanding the possibilities of email marketing. Yet, it was previously thought that these technologies were not practical because the size of audio and video mail had a negative impact on download times. However, both these new formats, and especially video emails, have become feasible because of the increase in bandwidth availability. Even in less developed countries, there has been a substantial increase in the required speed and bandwidth to deal with larger email formats.

A number of companies offer audio email services to the Webmaster and marketer and are hyping it as the “new wave” in increasing consumer response to email advertising. This is often referred to as “talking email” and offers a more direct and dramatic means of communication with the client or customer. Companies like Expedite Email Marketing suggest that, “By adding your voice, sound or music into your email marketing campaigns, you will set your email message apart from the rest”.

While many assume that simply adding an audio component to your email advertisement will improve click through rates, it should be borne in mind that the same problems that hinder mass mail marketing apply to this form of marketing. Simply adding technology without a well-planned marketing strategy in place that clearly identifies the key objective of the exercise will probably not do much to improve returns and customer response rates. As many pundits suggest, the art of effective email marketing requires focused selection and targeting of customer demographics and needs. Of course, one can create one’s own audio or video email attachment. However, the process can be slightly complex in terms of format and streaming audio and video; this area of expertise will be dealt with in more detail in future articles on this subject.

The features and advantages of audio email marketing include: The audio plays automatically once the email is opened; research has shown that an increased response rate results from the more intimate feel that audio communication provides the recipient in comparison to conventional text-based email messaging. The addition of music can also add impetus to any marketing campaign.

Video marketing is another advanced form of email marketing that has become increasingly popular over the last few years. However, this very exciting mode of communicating one’s advertising message to the customer is not without certain problem areas that one should be aware of. Video clips are usually not embedded or included directly in the email, as this would make the size of the download excessive for the ordinary user. Instead, video is usually linked to external sources that play on opening or by activating a link within the body of the email. The problem lies in the fact that to play external video the recipient of the email must access a plug-in application -- such as Windows Media or Macromedia Flash. Unfortunately, many email clients, like Microsoft Outlook, disable these plug-in options as default. There are however, ways around this problem and several companies such as VISMAIL (VisMail.com) and Pixelfish (PixelFish.com) offer technology to circumvent these problems. Conversely, marketers claim that video email works well as an effective marketing tool, as most users today have the required plug-ins actively installed to facilitate immediate application. Flash technology has also been used to implement email marketing as this often has a much lower download size.

Reports and studies on the use of video email marketing are encouraging. One such report states that, “Video e-mail recently made a comeback. While there are many recommended best practices for when and how to use video e-mail, the bottom line in early results show response rates (opens and clicks) 3 to 10 times higher than those for static e-mail.” (http://www.clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3625573) Research also shows that this form of email marketing increases landing page traffic and conversions.

The bottom line however with these more advanced forms of email marketing is that quality is more important than quantity. Building lists of thousands of email addresses as part of a marketing campaign has little worth if these addresses have not been selected with specific target clients in mind. As a pundit puts it; “Building a list of 10,000 names is not a goal. What value you are adding? You can offer quality content and something of value to the recipient, but that doesn't mean it's going to generate ROI." (http://www.clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3627210) Both audio and video email marketing have another advantage – they effectively promote viral marketing. Viral marketing is a method of encouraging recipients to pass along the marketing message to other potential consumers. The impact of video email and the quality of the information presented can facilitate the proliferation of this form of personalized marketing. There is also every indication from recent studies of the modern online environment that video and audio email marketing can have a marked increase on traffic and attract emergent hyper-consumption clients and customers that form part of the burgeoning ‘expectation economy’.

Advanced Internet Marketing Strategies – A Lesson From Radio Marketing

Advanced Internet Marketing Strategies

I've spent a lot of time learning about advertising on the radio. I understand ROI as well as MER (Media Efficiency Ratio). I understand the point of 30 minute long form ads versus :30 second spots and prime placement versus remnant space. These are all radio terms that help businesses get good at advertising on the radio.

But here's something I don't get. When I was a kid growing up in Anchorage, Alaska I first heard "That Song" by Genesis on KGOT. In Omaha during college I listened to Rush Limbaugh on KKAR and in Nashville I listen to music on JackFM.

There doesn't appear to be anything strange about that, does there? EXCEPT while driving today I couldn't remember where JackFM was on the radio dial.

That's what's strange. At least JackFM has branded itself with an attitude, but what about KGOT and KKAR and WTN? Who cares what the call letters are? I certainly don't and I've never had a radio that was organized by call letters, it's only numbers.

Now I've certainly listened to my share of stations that use their numbers with their name every 2 minutes like 101.3 KFAR. It gets ingrained in your head after a while - that part makes sense. But what marketing value do the call letters KFAR bring? Nothing. Absolutely Nothing. Advanced Internet Marketing Strategies

But there's always an exception, isn't there? There's a station in Omaha that goes by Lite96. That's their moniker, that's their name, that's their brand. Genius! They're a light rock/pop station at position 96 on the dial - thus Lite96. That's pure radio genius. They say their call letters every once in a while because some government body forces them to, but Lite96 is their name - no matter the call letters.

So if you're an internet marketer looking for some good strategy ideas, before you go out into the world and market yourself - determine how people are going to find you when they can't remember all the details. Then think about the name Lite96.As summer rolls into town, we visualize tulips and beautiful gardens beginning to bloom. Summer also brings out the homeowner who is looking to sell their property. As potential home buyers come to see your home, you must make some adjustments to the homes exterior appearance.

As the interior scene is very important so is the front lawn that has not been taken care of since last season. If your entrance screams community trash and items that should be recycled are lying outside around your home, this does not give your home any curb appeal for potential buyers. Advanced Internet Marketing Strategies

What homeowners should do is clean up as much as they possibly can and either use potted plants along their walkway or if possible artificial evergreens. Which can be taken to their new home when they leave. Light fixtures outside of the home should be turned on as this will allow the potential buyers to see what size and type of landscaping area their new home has to offer.

There are many ways in which a professional home stager can help potential homeowners with curb appeal.
Stagers are familiar with floral arranging and can help many clients with suited arrangements for their gardens that are cost effective. If the homeowner is using existing returnable flowers, perhaps using other arrangements alongside these can spruce the appeal to up to potential buyers as they visualise their own gardening the following year. Curb appeal is very important and can add value to your home. This is one asset that homeowners should consider when placing their home on the market.

If you're a local roofing company and you want TedsTopGuys.com to be your website name- could you be missing something? When your customers just can't remember your name, are they going to go to Google and search for "your town name + roofing contractor"? If you're nodding yes - then maybe for your long term growth, you should stop thinking about naming the website after yourself and name it something like Nashville Roofing Contractors. Hmmm. . . Advanced Internet Marketing Inc – The Best & Proven Social Marketing Strategies

Advanced Internet Marketing Inc

Social media marketing is quick becoming the new advanced Internet marketing idea of choice for many new age Internet marketers. This is attributed to social network sites to not only being a new way to reach new consumers, but also their ability to function as a slightly informal forum to address current and potential customers. This advanced Internet marketing idea can be further improved with the following tips:

The keyword is social.

Building trust with your followers or fans is very important in internet marketing. Likewise, when it comes to social marketing, don't start off with blasting a string of affiliate links to your list. They are NOT going to bite. Focus on building a relationship with them. It is not called SOCIAL marketing for no reason. It is not a one-way relationship. Take some time to talk to your list of followers and fans. It is a great way to get to know your fans and at the same time, get them to trust you. Advanced Internet Marketing Inc

Get to know your potential customers, BUT also get to know the experts.

Networking is a very important factor in social marketing. While you are focusing on building up your fan base, take some time off to also find out and befriend the experts in your niche. Thank them for the great work done and build up friendship with them.

You'll never know when you want to start a JV with them. And when you do, at least you are already on their radar. Their lists are, with a high probability, a ton larger than yours! It's good to have friends in high places! Advanced Internet Marketing Inc

Give value before you market to the people.

Free stuff always helps to grab the attention of your fans and followers. As a famous person once said, "it is better to give than to receive." This applies to advanced Internet marketing ideas as well. Kick off the relationship with a great free gift and you can be assured you are going to gain some serious credibility among your fans. Be it a special report or a great eBook, make it available for your fans to give it to their friends. Not only does it build goodwill, it helps make your report viral as part of your advanced Internet marketing idea plan.

Mask your marketing

Some sites do not allow open blatant advertising but a good way to go around that and still provide good value to your readers is to write a good article or a report and at the end of it, present your offer! Once you gain credibility with your report, people will be less defensive towards your offer. Advanced Internet Marketing Inc

Advanced Internet Marketing Las Vegas – 3 Advanced Internet Marketing Tips That Will Explode Your Sales Within Days of Implementation

Advanced Internet Marketing Las Vegas

Are you sick and tired of spending hours on the internet and still not able to sell a thing? It can get a little discouraging when you put hours of time and energy into making that first online sale and achieve nothing. Well in this article you will learn advanced internet marketing tips and techniques that you can use to improve your internet marketing success. I will show you how to drive traffic, learn about pulling back links and the power of having your own blog. These are three power tools that not all internet marketers take advantage of.

1. Can You Drive Traffic

In the world of internet marketing you must know how to drive traffic. Traffic is what will make or brake your brand or product. There are many products out there that I have researched and found out after my analysis that the product is a killer but the marketing is poor. Being able to drive traffic is not the only thing you will need to know as internet marketer, you will need to know the art of how to build relationships and trust. If your customer does not trust you then they will not buy from you either. Advanced Internet Marketing Las Vegas

2. Back Links And Pulling Links

I cannot stress enough about how important back links are. The more back links your article or website has the better you will rank in the search engines. I have heard that its all about the quality of your back links and not the quantity, well I beg to differ. For the most part having 1,000 PR 1 back links is better than having 50 edu as you will have the potential to pull 1,000 people to your website. You can leave back links to your website by blog commenting, this is probably the easiest way for you to build link juice to your website. With these sorts of links you have the ability to pull viewers from blogs to your website or product as well as getting the link power at same time.

3. Start Your Own Blog

Having your own blog is a must if you are serious about internet marketing. Your blog is the place where readers will have the chance to see the product that you are promoting or the service you are providing. There is one thing that you must do without fail and that is make sure you update your blog regularly, if you do not then you will not have a big readership as none goes back to look at an out dated blog.
