How to Successfully Motivate Employees

Instead of it being about how to motivate the employees, with the emphasis on the manager, it could be looked at as: How can a manager induce self-motivation in their employees?

1. Your Employees are Individuals: Every person that is under your employment is an individual. They are people that have different interests, different tastes, and they each bring different talents to your company. This means that they must be respected and let flourish in their own way. Knowing the employee as an individual is as important as understanding that they each bring a unique quality to your company.

2. Open Communication through Feedback: It is important in any business that a manager keeps an open level of communication. This is easily done by offering regular feedback. By having an open forum to discuss employee progress the manager lets their employee know that communication is essential.

3. Award Productivity: Once a manager understands that their employees are individuals, it is also important for a manager to understand what motivates the individual employee. Sometimes employees are motivated by money, and offering money as an award may motivate that type of employee. Other employees may be motivated by different things. Understanding this and using an award system that initiates motivation can be an asset within any company.

4. Progressive Training: A big part of your company is having employees that are well trained. Employees respond to this because it allows them to gain another skill set that will further their career. Progressive training sessions not only strengthen the employee, they also strengthen your business.

5. Company's Vision: Another important aspect of running a productive company with motivated employees is making sure that the employees understand company goals and desired result. The company must be clear in its vision, and commutative in its explanation of that vision. It is no use having the foresight of a business model if your employees do not understand. Results are based upon the employee's knowledge of what the employer expects. They will be motivated to get results if they know what kind of results your company is looking for.

6. Let the Motivation Set In: Providing new methods or different perspective to employees may take a while to set in. Don't expect results right off the bat! Like a flower that grows from a seed, these things take time. Just make sure you plant that seed and keep it nourished!

All of these things take time, and remember that the onus to find ways to increase self-motivation falls on the manager. Motivation itself will be displayed through the Employee. A serious and respectable manager will take his time and asses his employees, get to know them as individuals and play to their strengths. An important part of being a manager is utilizing these techniques and being aware of how self-motivation will help individual employees.

5 Ways To Successfully Motivate Yourself

Learning how to motivate yourself is an asset that will serve you well throughout every aspect of your life. It is unrealistic to depend upon others to supply you with the drive you will need to accomplish great things in your life. Self motivation is something that can be learned if you do not already have it and can also be reinforced if it tends to weaken. Having a lack of motivation is the single biggest reason why many do not achieve their goals resulting in a feeling of emptiness.

There does exist ways to ensure that you do not suffer the same fate many do when they fail to reach goals they have set for themselves.

Here are 5 simple techniques you can use to help maintain your self motivation so that you can consistently accomplish any objectives you set for yourself.

Remember Your Reasons

It is important to continually remind yourself as to why it is you are pursuing any particular goal or objective. This is especially true with goals that may take longer to achieve than others. It is normal to lose motivation after investing a lot of effort and not seeing the desired results. Reminding yourself of the benefits 'reinvigorates' your motivation so that you can continue to move closer to accomplishing your objectives.

Daily Inspiration

Periodic reinforcement of the success of others is an effective way to strengthen your own self motivation. Knowing that others have endured the same or similar challenges and succeeded is both inspirational and proof that it can be done.

Associate with Like Minded People

Surrounding yourself with like minded people or those who at least are supportive of your actions will help you to maintain your motivation. Having a source of support and encouragement can help you through times of frustration and can also offer insight that may be helpful.

Monitor Your Progress

Chart your progress and especially if you expect that your efforts will take a long time before you see any results. By doing this you can seek and find encouragement as you see progress being made. Nothing will zap your motivation quicker than realizing your efforts are getting you nowhere.

Learn from Set Backs

Expect setbacks and mistakes to occur so that when they do you can identify what went 'wrong' so that it does not happen again. Every mistake should teach you something of value if you are observant and this will make you better at what it is you are trying to accomplish. This feeling of 'empowerment' is a great source of confidence and self motivation.

When you learn how to motivate yourself you no longer fear those unexpected obstacles life often presents that may not allow you to reach goals you have set. Self motivation is a very empowering feeling since you do not have to rely upon others to maintain your ambition. Having the ability to call upon your own 'inner means' to either overcome a lack of motivation or to strengthen what you already have is a liberating sensation. The 5 techniques discussed above will help you maintain your self motivation for whatever reasons you may have. The end result will be more successes and less failures making for a happier and fuller life for you.

Motivation in a Minute – Simple Skills to Self-Motivate and Mood-Regulate

Motivation in a Minute – Simple Skills to Self-Motivate and Mood-Regulate

It dawned on me that there are some things worth mentioning around ‘motivation’ – how to access it and how to maintain it. Here are my top 5 tips:

1. Listen to uplifting music
Whether it’s Mozart, Motorhead or Musicals, if you have a piece (or pieces) of music which makes you feel great and inspired when you listen to them, make a resolution to up-the-ante and get them on the stereo a little more often!

2. Invest in some motivational audios
These are great for listening on your personal stereo or ipod when you have gap-time (on the bus, in the car, while you’re walking). I recommend some of the audio material from JackCanfield.com and from TonyRobbins.com. Like me, they’re professionals of the human potential movement and their material will give you a whole new opportunity to frame your life in a rich way.

3. Spend time with 'positive friends'
How many times have you felt down, headed over to a great friend’s house for a tea and a rant, and you’ve come away feeling positive, bright and ready to face the world – head held high? Make a mental note of who these people are and actively choose to spend a little more time with them each week.

4. Stretch your holiday excitement
Having an exciting occasion for you and the children to look forward to together
is so much more than just the holiday itself. I often count down to a holiday (or even a weekend away or a mini-break to see family) as far as 30 days beforehand with my daughter. It makes the magic and excitement of the event stretch to positively enhance a greater percentage of our lives, and at no extra financial investment.

5. Eat fresh healthy food
It’s a proven fact that fresh fruit and vegetables will contribute positively to our physical and emotional selves. The more resources we give our body, the less energy it has to spend managing ‘excess’ (these might be excess carbohydrate, fat, sugar or salt … just say ‘no’!). Play to your and your children’s advantage by gradually dialing up the ‘fresh’ part of your diet and watch how this gradually enhances your positive mood management!
